How to Remove and Replace Your NAKTO E-Bike Battery (Step-by-Step)

Removing and replacing the battery on a NAKTO e-bike is a simple job once you know the steps — no tools required. Whether you're swapping in a replacement battery or just charging it separately from the bike, here's exactly how to do it safely.

Before you start: take care of your battery key

NAKTO batteries lock into the frame with a key. If you lose it, we don't have copy keys for sold batteries — so keep it somewhere you won't misplace it, ideally on the same keyring as your bike lock or house keys.

Step 1: Lower the seat

Most NAKTO models have a small blue release bar located just under the seat. Pull it up to straighten the seat post and lower the seat out of the way — this gives you clear access to the battery housing underneath.

Step 2: Unlock and remove the battery

With your left hand, insert the battery key and turn it to unlock while pushing the key in. At the same time, use your right hand to pull the battery straight out of its housing. It should slide out smoothly once unlocked — if it feels stuck, double-check the key is fully turned before pulling harder.

Step 3: Charge the battery

This step matters more than it seems. Always connect the battery to the charger first, and only then plug the charger into the wall outlet. Plugging into the wall first can damage the battery's internal fuse. A full charge typically takes about 4 hours, though this varies slightly by model.

Step 4: Reinstall the battery

Slide the battery back into its housing until it's fully seated, then turn the key to lock it in place. Raise the seat back up and make sure the release bar clicks back into position before riding.

Troubleshooting: charger light turns green immediately

Normally, your charger's indicator light should stay red (or a non-green color) while charging and only turn green once the battery is fully charged. If the light turns green immediately when you start charging — rather than only at the end — this usually means the battery's internal fuse has burned out. Replacing the fuse typically resolves this issue.

When it's time for a replacement battery

If your battery no longer holds a charge, drains unusually fast, or the fuse issue above keeps recurring even after a fix, it's likely time for a replacement rather than a repair. NAKTO batteries vary by model — voltage and amp-hour ratings differ across the lineup, so check your original battery's specs or your bike's manual before ordering to make sure you get the right match.
